The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has organised a clean-up exercise in the city to commemorate its 125 anniversary and reinforced the importance of environmental stewardship.
The exercise which began at the break of dawn on Saturday was also in preparation for the highly anticipated funeral of the late Ga Manye, to ensure that the capital city of Ghana was in pristine condition to pay its respect to the revered Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedru III, who passed away on 26th December,2022.
Armed with brooms, rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and a strong sense of community spirit, participants including staff of the AMA, volunteers, and local residents converge across the city to desilt choked drains and gutters, clear areas overgrown with weeds as well as sweep the streets and pavements.
