Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, has hailed the Ghana Police Service, Electoral Commission and the media in their efforts to ensuring a violence-free election over the weekend.
The New Patriotic Party held its presidential election on Saturday, November 4, electing Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia their flagbearer to face the leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress, former President John Dramani Mahama, in the 2024 elections.
The Vice President had an overwhelming victory, polling an emphatic number of votes to emerge winner in the election.
He defeated his contenders by securing 118,210 out of the total of 193,346 votes cast representing an impressive 61.47% and his main competitor, Kennedy Agyapong, polled 71,996 votes representing 37.41%.
Speaking in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM’s morning show “Kokrokoo”, the NPP National Organizer noted that the election was very impressive but the party couldn’t have achieved this feat without the Police, Electoral Commission and the media as there was no record of violent incidents in the 277 constituencies across the country.
“Ghana Police, they did extremely well for us. Electoral Commission, fantastic job! The media, you did very well”, he elatedly said.
