Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus says his team deserved more from its game against Egypt at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.
He said this after the Black Stars drew 2-2 with The Pharaohs of Egypt in a crucial Group B encounter with both nations needing a win after largely disappointing in their opening games at the continental tournament.
Kudus scored twice in the game to win the Man of the Match Award on his return to the side after missing Ghana’s 1-2 loss to Cape Verde due to a reported hamstring injury.
The West Ham midfielder’s Man of the Match Award recognition marks the second time in a row that a Black Stars player has been the award recipient. Defender Alexander Djiku won the award in the Cape Verde tie.
However, after two defensive errors led to both Egypt goals, Kudus believes the Black Stars deserved more than a point from the game.
“We got a point today. I felt we deserved more because the goals they scored were from some silly mistakes from us which we need to learn from.”
Ghana plays against Mozambique needing to avoid a loss to have any chance of qualifying to the round of 16 stage.
