The round of games in the pool stage of the 13th African Games has come to an end and the quarterfinals stage is next with host nation Ghana headlining the matchups.
Ghana will renew its rivalry with Nigeria as the nations’ face off in the women’s division quarterfinals at 18:20 GMT at the University of Ghana Basketball Court on Thursday, March 21.
In the men’s division, Ghana will take on Burkina Faso with the game scheduled to tip off at 17:40 GMT at the aforementioned venue and date.
Ghana’s representatives qualified to the quarterfinals by winning two of three games; Ghana’s men’s team beat Mali 12-10 while the female team beat Cote D’Ivoire 11-7 to progress.
The 13th African Games host lost 12-16 to Madagascar earlier in the competition after picking up a 16-11 win over Benin.
Madagascar beat Benin 17-15 in overtime to remain unbeaten in the competition in the men’s division.
Top contender Egypt, failed to progress to the quarterfinals after losing surprisingly to Rwanda in its third game at the preliminary stage.
The 3×3 Basketball competition is set to conclude on Friday, March 22.
