Obligation rebuilding: No arrangement has been reached with government – IPPs

Ghana’s Independent Power Generators claim that the government’s announcement that it had reached an agreement with the IPPs to restructure the debt that was owed to the country’s power generators was false. As per the Money Pastor, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, the understanding remembers the IPPs tolerating a decrease for their cases (hair style), permitting the public authority to spread installment more than five years. In a proclamation replicated to Citi Business News, CEO of the Free Power Generators, Ghana, Dr. According to Elikplim Kwabla Apetorgbor, some IPPs last spoke with the negotiating team of the Government of Ghana in April 2024, but no terms have been agreed upon since then. “We have learned that the Minister of Finance has made public statements indicating that a debt restructuring agreement has been reached with Independent Power Producers (IPPs). We must declare categorically that this assertion is false and misleading.

“In April 2024, the Government of Ghana’s negotiating team met with some of the IPPs for the last time, but no terms have been agreed upon since then. The stance and speculation that the public authority has protected an obligation rebuilding concurrence with the IPPs are deluding and sum to public trickiness”, he added. “We ask the Clergyman of Money to abstain from offering such mistaken expressions and to take part in straightforward and legit correspondences”, he brought up. He did, however, point out that the IPPs are still committed to engaging in productive conversation and coming to an agreement that will benefit both parties. According to sources cited by Citi Business News, the government’s proposal to restructure the IPPs’ debt has only been accepted by CenPower and Amandi. The rest, Karpowership, Twin City Energy, Sunon Asogli, Cenit Energy and AKSA dismissed the hair style proposition by the Public authority of Ghana
