In anticipation of the 2024 Elections, the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) has warned the media, advising against becoming conduits for propaganda, falsehoods, and divisive rhetoric. Sinformation and malicious rhetoric.

The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) has issued a cautionary statement to journalists, emphasizing the need for vigilance in their coverage in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections in Ghana.

As the country prepares for the December 7 polls to elect a president and Members of Parliament, the Electoral Commission (EC) is presently engaged in a nationwide voters’ register exhibition exercise as part of the pre-election arrangements. MFWA has underscored the significance of journalistic diligence and critical inquiry to ensure the dissemination of accurate information.

Executive Director Sulemna Braimah has highlighted the proclivity of politicians to exploit the media for propagandistic purposes, emphasizing the imperative for journalists to refrain from serving as conduits for misinformation. In this context, he urges journalists to adopt an interrogative, inquisitive, and critical approach to their reporting as the electoral event approaches.
