The singer Raphael Camidoh Kofi Attachie, commonly known as Camidoh, expressed disapproval of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by President Akufo-Addo.
In a social media post dated Tuesday, September 24, 2024, the artist behind the hit song ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ unequivocally stated: “The government has failed us… This is a major disappointment.”
Camidoh did not specify the specific areas in which he believed the government had fallen short. Nonetheless, in a subsequent post, he lamented the challenging economic conditions.
“They don’t care… All this illegal mining activity may be orchestrated by them… The Ghana cedi is significantly devalued, import taxes are exorbitant, and yet the state of the motorway is deplorable. What is happening, Ghana is in a dire situation!”
Between the two aforementioned posts, Camidoh reposted a statement from Sika Official, expressing disapproval of the arrest and remand of 39 Democracy Hub protesters. The protesters were charged with engaging in what the police deemed unlawful acts during a three-day protest.
“This country makes me sick. Why are innocent people being taken to court for protesting against the same issues we are all suffering from? These individuals are actively contributing to the destruction of our water bodies through galamsey activities, yet it is the innocent protesters who have been arrested. The Ghana Police should feel ashamed,” Camidoh reposted.
