The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has committed to rejuvenating the Tumu Cotton Ginnery in the Sissala East Municipality of the Upper West Region.
The former President expressed his intention to give the once-thriving Cotton Ginnery a substantial overhaul. Furthermore, he stated that the facility, upon revitalization and operational reinstatement, will be under the management of a private entity. This management transition aims to facilitate effective functioning, job creation, and economic growth.
During his 3-day campaign tour of the region, Mahama addressed a gathering of Chiefs, residents of Tumu, and supporters of his party on Sunday, October 13, 2024. He emphasized the sector’s potential for substantial growth and transformation.
The Chiefs expressed their belief in Mahama’s capacity to address the needs and aspirations of the region, should he assume office as the next government leader. Additionally, they reiterated their conviction that Mahama’s party genuinely prioritizes rural development. As representatives of this area, they conveyed deep gratitude to him and his administration for the significant progress made during his leadership.
