Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC),
Former President John Dramani Mahama has accused the Akufo-Addo administration of irresponsibly overseeing the deterioration of Ghana’s economy. Mr. Mahama highlighted that Ghanaians are currently burdened by escalating food prices and a pervasive lack of development within various communities.
During a meeting with members of the Western Regional House of Chiefs in Sekondi on November 25, he expressed his concern regarding the frustrations articulated by traditional leaders about the stagnation of development over the past eight years. He stated, “I am disheartened by the condition of the roads in the twin city and other constituencies in the region, not to mention the overall lack of progress in development.”
Mr. Mahama further noted in a Facebook post following the interaction, “This is not the Western Region I have known. Our initiative to Reset Ghana and Build the Ghana We Want aims to benefit the region and enhance the state of infrastructure here.”
He concluded by asserting that “The hardships that we are currently experiencing, including rising food prices and insufficient development in our communities, are a direct result of the detrimental oversight of the economy by Nana Akufo-Addo and Mahamudu Bawumia.””
