The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, articulated that the recent remarks made by Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging Ghanaians to support the NDC and its presidential candidate, John Mahama, represent a legitimate reflection of the prevailing political sentiment in the country.
Asiedu Nketia contended that this endorsement from a prominent figure within the NPP indicates an implicit acknowledgment of Mahama’s candidacy and the NDC’s visionary plans for the future of Ghana.
These comments were delivered during a campaign event focused on engaging the constituents of Walimbelly in the Sissala East Constituency of the Upper West Region. The aim of the event was to reinforce the NDC’s message and establish a connection with local voters.
He emphasized the importance for voters to consider this endorsement and to concentrate their support on the NDC and Mahama as the elections approach. Furthermore, Asiedu Nketia remarked that although Dr. Opoku-Prempeh has opted to endorse Mahama in lieu of his party leader, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, this choice does not guarantee Dr. Opoku-Prempeh’s ascendance to the Vice Presidency.
Additionally, Kuoro Abdul-Rahman Bataah IV, the Vice President of the Buli Paramountcy, noted that Ghana is at a pivotal juncture, highlighting the necessity for the NDC to promote peace and stability within the nation.
