King Promise responds to critics

Ghanaian musician, King Promise has responded to critics who believed that the Album of the Year award should have been given to Black Sherif instead of him at the recently held VGMAs.
The ‘5 Star’ singer recently appeared as a guest on The Day Show with Berla Mundi on TV3, where he addressed critics who believed that the Album of the Year award should have gone to Black Sherif.
During the interview, King Promise expressed his love and admiration for Black Sherif’s album.
“I love Blacko, I love Blacko’s album, as he continues to do stuff,” he said
King Promise acknowledged that there have been instances when people felt he should have won in certain categories but didn’t.
However, he firmly stated that this doesn’t undermine the talent and deserving nature of those who did win. He expressed his respect for the decision-making process and the fact that different individuals have different perspectives on music and awards.
“but I think when it comes to things like this even the times that I have been nominated that I didn’t win there way so many people who thought I deserved it and should have won but it doesn’t mean whoever won did not deserve it and I respect it,” he explained
Furthermore, King Promise,27, commended Black Sherif, 21, for his exceptional album and acknowledged that it is also one of his personal favourites.
He also expressed admiration for Black Sherif’s work and the impact it has made in the year under review.

When asked by Berla about a potential collaboration with Black Sherif, King Promise revealed that although they haven’t worked together yet, there is a connection between them.
“We haven’t worked together but we have a connection, sometimes not because we are friends we should force the song, I like it to be very natural. Like I Knew Sark for four years before we made a song, same thing with R2Bees, I knew Wizkid a long time before we did a song,” the ‘Terminator’ crooner explained.
