Some dreams will remain just that, dreams. Some things will not turn out to be as sweet as you imagined them. For example, your marriage. You may work hard and smart, really hard, network plenty, and then you end up just meeting basic needs and by definition considered poor. This is not a crime or something to be ashamed of. Being lazy is what is shameful.
You may love children and want to have them, and then God says, well, you’re not going to have children. You can dream of starting a company that will flourish, and you turn around at 60 years of age, and wondered where time flew to.
You may really desire polygyny. You may see single or divorced, widowed beautiful, intelligent women you’re attracted to but because of certain life realities, it’s not the best idea. Don’t force it. It’s also contentment to let it go.
You may want your husband to yourself only, yet God gives him the desire and wherewithal to love and support one of your other sisters in faith. Instead of letting your emotions take over, tame them and let the beautiful patience your faith recommends shine through you.
Approach life with humility and a healthy form of realism. Allah is not our personal shopper that makes sure we get everything we want. I heard yesterday how some people frequent Umrah yearly because they feel like it’s a bargain to get everything they want from Allah. We’re not ones to chase happiness up and down. That’s not our faith. Hope for the best, but plan your mindset for the worst. One thing you will SURELY get If you strive for it is Jannah and the pleasure of your Lord, and that my brother or sister, is the goal.
And the One who created you said:
أَمۡ لِلۡإِنسَٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ
Does (hu)man think he(she) will get to have everything he(she) wishes for?
