Did Bawumia generate Covid-19? – Egyapa Mercer awe as he makes strong case for Veep

Member of Parliament for Sekondi Andrew Egyapa Mercer wonders how anyone will accept that Covid-19 was the reason Ghana’s sterling economy took a downturn after 2019 and yet finds it convenient to associate this “downturn to having anything to do with the competence of Dr. Bawumia if not for cheap political ends”.
“Did Dr. Bawumia create Covid-19? An act of God happens, it ravages economies of the world and you want to blame it on Dr. Bawumia to the extent that you say he has run the economy aground and so he is incompetent. If it is not for the politics of it then I don’t know what it is.”
Presidential aspirants of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been crisscrossing the country canvassing for votes ahead of the November 4 flagbearer election.
Perhaps, it will be a two-horse race, one that will be between Vice President Dr. Bawumia and Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency Kennedy Agyapong.
Topical among the pronouncements of the naysayers of Dr. Bawumia is the fact that his tenure as the head of the Economic Management Team has seen the country’s economic fortunes decline to the extent that some of the presidential aspirants have joined in the “economy mismanagement chorus”.
Andrew Agyapa Mercer recalls several instances where “even some of the presidential aspirants were on record to have before the party announced the presidential primaries openly admitted and attributed the economic challenge to factors including Covid-19, which was a fact then and a fact now and wonders what has changed”.
Speaking on Connect FM, the Sekondi MP asks of politicians especially those participating in an internal party election to deal with each other with dignity by “focusing on what you have to offer and not about the vilification of another aspirant”.
He stresses the point that nobody is running away from the fact that the economy is challenged “but ask yourself what happened that a country that was doing so well from 2017 to 2020 will all of a sudden start to have a sharp change in its economic outlook.”

Nov. 4 election…

Andrew Mercer bets that Dr. Bawumia will win the elections, stressing that “for majority of MPs, Ministers and party faithfuls to openly declare their support for DMB tells you a certain mindset”.
“A mindset that, it is without a doubt that Dr. Bawumia holds the key to NPP’s electoral success in the 2024 general elections.
“I keep saying that nobody anywhere called, influenced or induced me or any of the government officials I know who are following Dr. Bawumia to do so. It is a simple matter of coming to the realisation that DMB is the one ordained to help us break the 8.
“So I will implore all delegates to let their votes reflect the mood of the party. And I strongly believe what we all want is Dr. Bawumia as our 2024 flagbearer.”
