The wait for Ghana’s Black Queens return to compete in the CAF Women’s AFCON will continue for little over a year due to changes made to the schedule of the competition.
The competition was due to be held next month in Morocco but changes effected by the Executive Council of Africa’s football governing body meant the start of the tournament being pushed to next year.

As such, the 15th edition of the Women’s AFCON will take place in Morocco from July 5 to July 26 with Ghana among the 12 qualified teams set to compete.
The decision to change the dates was taken as a result of a series of moves to avoid the Men’s AFCON competition clashing with the expanded FIFA Club World Cup in 2025 from June to July.
The change means the 2025 Men’s AFCON has been moved from its original June to July schedule to December 21, 2025 with the tournament scheduled to conclude on January 18, 2026. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
