The National Democratic Congress (NDC) intends to organise a demonstration at the district level in response to the Electoral Commission’s decision to decline an audit of the voter register. Amaliba made this announcement.

The Director of Conflict Resolution of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba, has announced the party’s intention to stage another demonstration in response to the Electoral Commission’s (EC) refusal to conduct a forensic audit of the voter register. The upcoming protest is planned to be conducted at the district level nationwide.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has declined the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) request for a forensic audit of the voter register, citing substantial resolution of identified discrepancies in the PVR. The Commission has extended an invitation to the NDC for a dialogue to demonstrate the resolution of the identified discrepancies and has emphasized that the existing legal and administrative processes for cleaning the PVR have not been fully exhausted to warrant a forensic audit.

Previously, the NDC organized a nationwide demonstration on Tuesday, September 17, under the theme ‘Enough is enough,’ aimed at advocating for an audit of the register. National Chair of NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, stressed the demand for a free, fair, and transparent election, with a credible register being pivotal to this objective. He underscored the significance of transparent elections and the imperative role of democratic-minded citizens in safeguarding democracy.
